Dubai-based five-piece Point Of View may rock just as hard, if not harder, than most populating our scene here in the U.S. This band delivers a hellish juggernaut of metal-influenced hard rock, churning out relentlessly powerful riffs, stone-shattering drums, and a dynamically awesome vocalist that demands respect (if not overwhelming reverence) from those worthy enough to drink of their righteous goblet of rock. Nik Uzi is the man behind the melody, Ben Harris betroths the bass, Kiran Tauro hits the kit, and Murtaza Jafar, Vineet Mohandes, and Royden J. Mascanhas snap the electric strings.
If further proof is needed to show that these dudes mean serious business, then the search ends here. Point of View won two of the biggest music awards in the United Arab Emirates during 2013: “Best Music Act In UAE 2013” and “Highly Commended Concert”, each through the Timeout Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards. They’re also the first band from the Middle East / Asian region to receive an official celebrity endorsement for their debut album. Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, an American guitarist that played for Guns n’ Roses from 2006 to 2014, gave an official statement about the band that appears on the back cover of their debut album. If that wasn’t enough, the dude then flew to Dubai to join them onstage for both their album launch party and for a five-city tour in India during June of 2013. It’s only a matter of time before they completely dominate North America, and then some.
